chancel choir

We are a small group of devoted singers who meet weekly to prepare anthems for Sunday service. Our goal is to round out the message delivered in liturgy and sermon. There are many who worship through choral singing and many who receive the message through song. This spiritual, symbiotic flow is our hope.

Twice a year we offer special services: Lent and Advent.

Lenten services

During Lent we lead services on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday. Services interpret the last hours of Christ, from the upper room to the cross. The anthems and service music, along with scripture and prayer, are somber and moving. Services end in the silence of the grave as we leave to begin the Great Vigil. Lent culminates on Easter morning as we celebrate with rousing music proclaiming the great "Alleluia! Christ is Risen!" It is quite wonderful.

advent services

During Advent we lead a service of music that uses scripture to recall the prophesy and fulfillment of the coming of the Messiah into the world. There are highlights of John the Baptist preparing the way, the annunciation of Gabriel to Mary, the involvement of the lowly shepherds who are the first to see and more as we get our first glimpse of the promise fulfilled. Each year we try to add some new songs and arrangements to the old, old story that we love so well.
